Schuler Group / Müller Weingarten de México, S.A. de C.V. Chief Executive Officer
Vitae
Stefan Antel, born in Schweinfurt 1969. After having completed his German apprenticeship, he worked as a skilled trade for FAG, one of the market leaders in the bearings industry. Mr. Antel obtained the industrial master degree in 1992, after which he proceeded to manage and supervise onsite installations of stamping equipment in the automotive industry all over the world for Muller Weingarten now part of Schuler Group.
In 2005 he assumed the position of CEO in Mexico, the company has currently over 160 employees, delivering specialized service to the entire Mexican market in the fields of press, tool & die, rigging and on-site machining. Schuler provides extensive know how in metal stamping equipment for all sorts of industries, ranging from automotive to beverage canning.
In the service sector, the outmost key indicator of success is customer satisfaction, which is directly related to a flexible and high quality performance. Mr. Antel recognized the fact that skill trades, as they exist in Germany, are not common in Mexico, because the current educational system does not have a comparable program.
Because of this, Mr. Antel convinced the Schuler Group to establish a Dual Training Center (CEDUAL) in Mexico in 2012, allowing students to pursue a degree which is based on the German dual apprenticeship system; as he had done many years before. It is closely supervised and certified by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), allowing the students to obtain a certificate of equal validity as the one issued in Germany.
One of the highest challenges in his career is to overcome existing prejudices, and introduce a different way of training to a country, where skills are acquired after 30 or more years of hands on experience, instead of a sound theoretical and practical education.
